Makinde Warns Traders to Live in Harmony

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has assured traders a conducive atmosphere to operate saying the government will not allow a repeat of Shasha mayhem.

Makinde gave the assurance during a visit to the newly established Akinyele Perishable goods Market saying his administration will create a conducive environment and ensure the provision of required infrastructure in the market for the benefits of all stakeholders.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Governor while addressing traders of different Ethnicity in the Market, urged them to live in harmony and go about their lawful businesses, adding that the state is open to anybody that respects the laws of the land.

Makinde promised that his administration will continue to support the traders while he urged them to cooperate with the leadership of the market.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the market, Mallam Usman Yako, appreciated Governor Makinde for his intervention in settling the dispute that ensued among traders at Shasa a few weeks ago. 

He promised that the traders would be peaceful and adhere strictly with the environmental laws of the state.

It will be recalled that a faction of traders in Shasha market moved to the newly established Akinyele market after the ethnic clashes that led to loss of lives in the market.
