Asaba Development Union Partner’s, CBN, NEXIM, Others, Empowers Youths
To check youths' restiveness, the Asaba Development Union, World Wide (ADUWW) has partnered with the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), NEXIM Bank, National Directorate of Employment(NDE) and Industrial Training Fund(ITF) to empower her youths.
This was disclosed recently by the President General of ADUWW, Prof. Epiphany Azinge during a two-day empowerment programme organized by ADUWW. Azinge also disclosed that ADUWW has set up Asaba Youth Investment Trust Fund, adding that “this Trust Fund is a response to the need to reposition our youths to face the challenges of a dynamic world”.
He added that the CBN, NEXIM Bank, NDE and ITF have pledged to help drive the youth empowerment programme.
Azinge also commended the committee for its diligent scrutiny of the youths and the entrepreneurial training.
He stated that the programme would help change the present worrisome behaviour of Asaba youths for the better.
He equally lauded the youths for making themselves available as they were the agent of change, for a better Asaba and to the beneficiaries.
He further admonished them to work hard in order to be useful not to themselves but to the entire Asaba.
In the same vein, the Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development Mr. Ifeanyi Egwunyenga admonished the youths on the importance of entrepreneurial training, which
According to him, the programme was important to enable beneficiaries to understand how to manage funds for-profit yield.
He also promised that his Ministry would help the beneficiaries develop and manage their various businesses.
Also, the Chairman of the ADUWW Investment Trust Fund Committee Ogbueshi Fred Okonta, thanked the youths for making themselves available for the two days and promised that the process is not a one-off “but continuous in order to help better our home and build a brighter Asaba”.
Azinge thanked the committee for the scrutiny of the youths and the entrepreneurial training which he stated would help change the present narrative of Asaba youths for the better. He also thanked the youths for making themselves available as they are the agent of change, for a better Asaba and to the beneficiaries he admonished them to remember they have to work hard to be a success story not to themselves alone but the whole of Asaba.
The beneficiaries thanked the donors and the committee for their generosity and promised to add value not only to themselves but also to Asaba community.
The empowerment programme began with a capacity-building engagement with the youths with five government agencies involved in exposing participants to various aspects of entrepreneurial skills, management, funding, etc.
Cheques of various amounts were handed over to the beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme. They include Oburoh Fumnanya (fashion design); Ekeneam Amazoi (poultry farming); Jeffery Jones Bardi (fish farming) and Joseph Uchechukwu Ideke (laundry)
