Benue Govt Approves Recruitment of 1,172 Staff for Tertiary Institutions and 2000 SUBEB Teachers

Benue State Commissioner of Information, Dr (Mrs) Ngunna Addingi, has dismissed the rumour making rounds in the state of plans by Governor Samuel Ortom to drop some members of his cabinet.

The State Information Commissioner, Dr (Mrs) Ngunna Addingi, disclosed this on one side with newsmen in government house Makurdi, saying such matter was never discussed.

The Information commissioner further announced that the State Executive Council approved the recruitment of 1,172 staff for five state institutions and two thousand teachers out of the five thousand earlier promised for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Dr (Mrs) who described the approvals as crucial in view of the challenges in the educational sector said a committee has been set up to work out modalities to be headed by the SSG, followed by finance and education commissioners, Head of service and the Special Adviser on SDGs.

Meanwhile, the State Executive Council also approves the payment of subsidized fertilizer supplied for 2011, 2012, 2018 and 2019 farming season as well as the approval for the procurement of fertilizers for the 2021 farming season.

Correspondent Gabriel Ordia reports that the five tertiary institutions where 1,172 staff are to be recruited are College of Education, katsina - ala, College of Education, Oju; and Benue State Polytechnic, others are Akawo Torkula and Akpera Urshi Polytechnics.
