FG Must Advance Digital Economy - Pantemi

The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami has re-emphasized the government's resolve to continually advance the digital economy agenda of the country.

Pantami made this known at the 2020 Abuja national summit induction and investiture of the institute of information management in Abuja.

Represented by the Director-General of National Identity Management Commission, Aliyu Aziz, the minister said the event  was apt and timely given increased reliance of individual and businesses on digital platforms to carry out their activities 

He charged the institute to increase education in terms of actual skills, training research to promote data and information management in line with changing environment.

Director-General of Bureau of public service reform, Dasuki Arabi said, the E-government implementation is an essential policy that will improve efficiency in the public service and ensure transparency in government deals which will reduce corruption to the barest minimum and also bring the government closer to the people 

Earlier, the president of the institute of information management, Dr Oyedokun Oyewole, said the agency will be tasked with managing the information lifecycle of data, documents and archives generated by all government agencies ensuring enabling standards, specification, laws and policies are in place for a good data information governance regime in the country. 

The theme of the 2020 national summit is e-government, Digital economy and records management: assessing government readiness on electronic document management and digitization post covid 19.
