Sowore Appears in Court with Traditional Priest

Online publisher, Omoyele Sowore has appeared before an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court with a traditional priest.

In a rather unprecedented gesture, the controversial journalist appeared in court on Tuesday for the continuation of his trial along with four others.

Sowore and his co-defendants face a three-count charge of alleged criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and inciting public disturbance.

They were arrested at the Gudu Area of Abuja on New Year's eve during a protest against bad governance.

In a chat with journalists, Sowore and his lawyer says all cultures and beliefs have the right to be heard and seen.

Meanwhile, the trial commenced this Tuesday with the first prosecution witness taking the stand to testify against Sowore and his co-accused.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the case has been adjourned till May 7 for the continuation of the hearing.
